RESTAURANTS/ESTABLISHMENTS
Many people
are appalled when they learn of the cruel force feeding methods used to
produce foie gras, and many restaurants and establishments that used to
serve foie gras have now removed this item from their menu. While the
establishments listed below have not yet made a firm commitment to permanently
eschewing foie gras, the removal of the item from their menu is a step
in the right direction.
Barclay
Prime, Philadelphia
When activists learned that the new Barclay Prime Steakhouse in Philly
was offering a burger topped with foie gras, they immediately engaged
in a public education effort, distibuting leaflets, holding signs, and
talking to customers about the cruelty of foie gras. In response, restaurant
management decided to "reformulate" the burger--without the
foie gras. Click

Bliss
Restaurant, East Setauket, NY
Mr. Richard Desmond and Mr. Ron Hoffman
The owners recently stated, "After our Valentine's Day menu was
reviewed in Newsday, we were contacted by a reader who sent us information
on what goes on during foie gras production. I had no idea. It bothered
me so much we decided to remove foie gras from our menu right away."
Charlie
Trotter, Chicago
Famed chef Charlie Trotter recently publicly declares his opposition to
foie gras. In the Chicago Tribune article, Liver
and Let Live, Trotter recounts his visit to foie gras production facilities,
and how the experience led him to condemn this cruel product.
Four
Seasons resort, Maui
On December 9th activists in Maui demonstrated at Wolfgang Puck's book
signing at the Four Seasons Hotel, holding signs, giving literature to

use of veal and foie gras. Although Mr. Puck continues to promote cruelty,
the Four Seasons decided to remove foie gras from the menu of their Opus
Wine Dinner on December 10.
Zola
New World Bistro, State College, Pennsylvannia
