The
birds slaughtered in foie gras production suffer terribly, but unfortunately
many consumers are unaware of the cruelty with which the geese and ducks
are raised for this product. Please join the effort to eliminate this
cruelty. Here are some ways you can help:
In Illinois, Michigan, New York, and Philadelphia legislation is pending that would prohibit some of the practices used by foie gras producers. In addition, a resolution has been introduced in New York City to support a state-wide ban on force feeding for foie gras. To get involved with these efforts, please visit our legislation page or contact Farm Sanctuary at the information below.
Contact restaurants and grocery stores in your area and encourage them to pledge not to serve foie gras - ask them to serve vegan FAUX GRAS instead!
Order our FREE materials to hand-deliver or mail to restaurants, asking them to have a heart and not serve foie gras.
Join other Farm Sanctuary supporters at a local NO FOIE GRAS PROTEST or start one of your own! If a restaurant or store refuses to remove foie gras, organize a demonstration in front of their establishment. Farm Sanctuary can provide you with materials. Send us its name so we can add it to our webpage of establishments that serve foie gras to encourage others to contact them as well.
- Educate your family, friends, co-workers, and associates about foie gras and encourage them not to eat this inhumane product. Ask them to sign the "Please Say No To Foie Gras" petition.
Write a letter to the editor of your local newspaper detailing how the foie gras birds are mistreated, or consider sponsoring an advertisement, informing others of the cruelty of foie gras production. Farm Sanctuary can send you information, pictures, and sample text for a newspaper ad.
Place educational displays, with posters, pictures and literature in your local library, health club, school, church, health food store, grocery store, workplace, etc. Materials are available by contacting Farm Sanctuary at: campaign@farmsanctuary.org or 607-583-2225 ext. 229.
Ask the AVMA to correct its faulty stance on foie gras production.

On Tuesday, April 29, the Pew Commission on Industrial Farm Animal Production released the results of a two and a half year study, confirming what farm animal advocates have long known: that confining farm animals inside tiny crates and cages, subjecting them to routine mutilations, force feeding them, and pumping them full of antibiotics is an untenable situation. The Pew Commission provides additional, compelling and irrefutable data to prohibit these abuses. Read more.
